About Our School

Welcome to Sauk Prairie High School

Sauk Prairie High School is an exemplary learning environment. Our students consistently achieve academically at the highest levels and we compare very favorably to other high schools in the area and across the state.

We have numerous reasons to celebrate student achievement at Sauk Prairie High School. Each year, our 11th grade class takes the ACT College Entrance Exam. In each of the three years of universal junior ACT we have improved our performance, while exceeding the state average on every subject test and composite score. Last year, our juniors achieved an average ACT Composite score of 21.2, compared to the state average of 20.2.

Additionally, our juniors, with a year and a half of high school study yet to go, have demonstrated significant college and career readiness. 64% of our students were deemed college and career ready in English Language Arts, 46% in mathematics, 47% in reading, and 45% in science. In each of those categories, SPHS significantly exceeds the state’s performance as a whole. And our student performance compares favorably with our peers in the Badger Athletic Conference.

SPHS had 117 students take 186 Advanced Placement exams in 2017. AP exams were administered in English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Psychology, United States History, European History, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Computer Science A, Computer Science Principles, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism and Physics C: Mechanics. Test scores indicated that 75% of our students achieved scores of 3 or above on examinations. 140 exams were scored at 3 or above—which qualifies students for college credit in those tested areas. Additionally, 31.7% of our seniors graduated having earned at least one 3 or better on at least one AP exam. Lastly, 33 students earned the distinction of AP Scholar, scoring at least a 3 on at least three AP Exams. This is truly excellent achievement! Congratulations to our students and teachers for demonstrating learning at such high levels.

Each year the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issues school report cards to each school in the state. Schools receive rating scores in defined priority areas of student achievement, student growth, closing gaps, on-track and postsecondary readiness, and student engagement. Sauk Prairie High School received an overall accountability score of 70.9 which is rated as “Meets Expectations.” This score provides evidence of an effective instructional program with a number of data points considered in this analysis. Again, congratulations to the SPHS learning community!
