Agriculture Education classes are planting now for a colorful holiday season. Students have been in the greenhouse trying to grow poinsettias. Poinsettias require hours of complete darkness. As this is the first full year in the greenhouse, students are experimenting to see if they can grow poinsettias to then sell. Classes have also been growing micro greens for the school lunch program! #spsdlearns #togetherwesoar #ageducation

Meet Aaron Athas, District Assessment and Career Planning Coordinator. He has a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Platteville, a Masters in Special Education from Minnesota State University Mankato and an Educational Specialist Degree from Concordia University St. Paul.
Originally from Ft. Atkinson, WI, Aaron moved back to Wisconsin with his wife after living in Minnesota for several years. During Aaron’s sophomore year of high school his English teacher was a young Mr. Chad Harnisch, who is now principal at SPHS. Aaron’s wife is an organic farmer and he has a history as a professional singer having headlined major festivals in Paris, France.
Aaron realizes he is the bi-product of all the teachers in his family. While he originally thought about a career in broadcasting, that plan changed during his fourth year of college. After 13 years teaching far from his hometown, Aaron is returning to his original home and his home state. He continues to be inspired by watching teachers dedicated to their craft, who relentlessly work toward improving themselves and meeting the challenges of our students and the community at large.

Meet Rachel Lizzadro-McPherson, School Psychologist for the Middle School and High School. Rachel, who has lived in southwest and midwest states, has her degree as an Education Specialist from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and a Psychology degree with a minor in Child, Youth and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.
She has a beautiful daughter and two wonderful Shiba Inus named Yoshi and Rosalina.
Rachel picked a career in psychology because it made sense to her as she has always helped others along her life’s journey. She describes herself as a kid at heart and believes every child deserves to feel not only heard but also seen. Barriers to accessing support was a major reason why Rachel chose to be a school psychologist. She sees her work as being where the families are and being visible to those who need her most. Rachel felt that in her interviews with the Sauk Prairie School District, she could truly see herself impacting the school community in a positive way and that in turn the community would do that for her as well. She is excited to serve the community and become part of the Sauk Prairie Eagles family!
